The upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) second season is poised to kick off in Bengaluru on February 23, with an exciting clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium between last year’s finalists, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, scheduled to start at 7:30 pm. Organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the second match will witness a face-off between Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz. The grand final is set for March 17, following an Eliminator game on March 15, both hosted in Delhi.
This season follows a streamlined format with a five-team, 22-game caravan model, exclusively played in Bengaluru and Delhi. Bengaluru will host 11 games until March 4, after which the WPL excitement will shift to Delhi, starting on March 5 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Notably, there are no doubleheaders in this 24-day season, and all matches will commence at 7:30 pm. Occasionally, teams may play back-to-back games on consecutive days.
Originally planned in a home-and-away model similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL), logistical challenges led the BCCI to consolidate the WPL’s second season. The first season was entirely played in Mumbai.
