Rishabh Pant, the renowned cricketer, is making significant strides in his recovery journey following a serious accident in 2022. His recent participation in a warm-up game in Alur, near Bengaluru, is a testament to his resilience and determination. This marks his first match after a considerable hiatus.
Insiders from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and his IPL team have hinted at Pant’s readiness to captain the Delhi Capitals in the forthcoming IPL 2024. It’s worth noting that Pant will be playing exclusively as a batter, with wicketkeeping responsibilities assigned to another teammate.
Pant’s agility and freedom on the field remain unscathed, as per reports. His ability to run and bat with the same vigor as before the December 2022 accident is a positive sign. Pant, who is currently rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, also received treatment in London last month, facilitated by the BCCI.
The cricket fraternity is abuzz with anticipation for Pant’s potential involvement in the IPL, subject to clearance from the NCA. The Delhi Capitals franchise has expressed faith in Pant’s leadership while assigning the wicketkeeping role to another player. In Pant’s absence, David Warner led the team in the previous IPL season.
The IPL schedule is yet to be finalized, pending the announcement of the general election dates by the Election Commission of India. The BCCI is tentatively planning to kick off the IPL on March 22 or 23, with the tournament expected to wrap up on May 26, a Sunday.
Rishabh Pant’s recovery progress and his anticipated return to competitive cricket are significant milestones, stirring excitement among fans and stakeholders as they look forward to IPL 2024.
